Demo crashes upon startup

It's bad enough hearing about the performance issues, but it's another thing when I can't open the demo at all.

As far as I've searched crashes for other players have only occurred ingame rather than before it could even start playing. So I can't imagine anyone can offer help but I'm shooting my shot regardless. My specs are as follows:

AMD Ryzen 7 5700G
16GB RAM
GeForce RTX 3060 8GB

I've had no troubles with any other Atlus game on Steam so I really do want to know what went wrong with this one... any help is greatly appreciated.

Same for me with an AMD 7900 XTX. Won't even start, never even see a black screen or anything.

Having the same issue. Saw on another thread here that it might be because of Afterburner/RivaTuner which was running. I closed them and launched the game and no crashes. Open them again and crashed right away and the logs show that the game crashed because of an "overlay" program (Afterburner)

Do you have the SpecialK fix installed or the 2 Vulkan files? Found this which also mentions the issue with AB and the SpecialK fix https://www.dsogaming.com/articles/metaphor-refantazio-is-an-unoptimized-mess-on-pc/

I'll give an update on testing it with the SpecialK fix. (likely via editing this post)

Edit: SpecialK fix applied, now I get an error prompt: "The code execution cannot proceed because VCOMP140.DLL was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."

Try and install the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable

The demo was working fine on steam deck prior to yesterday's update, now it won't even start... hopefully they fix it soon

Yesterday it started correctly today after updating, the demo crashes at startup!
Hope they fix it soon.

UPDATE: After requesting a file integrity check and subsequent download of some missing files, the game now starts correctly :)
