SWITCH FROM CPU TO GPU TO FIX PERFORMANCE

Metaphor: ReFantazio defaults to CPU graphics settings; switching to GPU graphics settings solved my performance issues!

To do this:

1. Go to your device's System Settings

2. Scroll and click "Graphics"

3. Under "Custom options for apps" and "Add an app" select "Desktop app" and click "Browse". Find the folder that holds the Metaphor: ReFantazio application (you can easily do this on Steam by right clicking on the Prologue Demo in Library, go to "Manage", and then click on "Browse local files". Copy the link from the File Explorer that it leads you to and paste it into the File Explorer you accessed via System Settings).

4. Once Metaphor: ReFantazio is selected, click Options and select your GPU. Click Save.

...I have several questions as to why it defaults to the CPU in the first place.

This doesn't do anything if you have a AMD processor probably. Also, the game still has an insane amount of performance issues even if it defaulted to CPU.

Yeah, I'm not that knowledgeable about tech stuff to give a more informed opinion. So far, I've had no issues except a single moment of lag since finding this out.

Yeah this is REAL bad looks for a demo. Everything else about the game has been solid aside from the initial performance issues so ATLUS really needs to lock in!

Made no difference for me, but I don't have an integrated gpu in my cpu.
I guess if the game was giving a black screen or was running at 5fps this might at least make it playable.
I'm still getting huge framedrops and stuttering.

Sorry to hear it didn't work for you. Hopefully you'll find a method that will or ATLUS will realize they goofed faster and universally fix it for everyone. :(
