Sound also doesn't work when I plug my headphones into my Xbox controller. If I go into audio settings and select 'headphones' it works for two seconds then goes away again.
The only game I can remember where the sound doesn't transmit to headphones through this controller.
If you have more than one speaker, go to the change device option in the sound settings of the game and select a different sound output. For example, I use the Razer THX app, so my headset appears as 2 different devices, so I chose the original one, not the THX one. All sounds are now loud and clear.
Our eardrums shall not rest peacefully it seems
In your "Speakers Properties" (control panel->sound->double click your speakers/headphones) I unboxed everything under "Exclusive Mode". That is: "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" and "Give exclusive mode applications priority".
Works flawless for me now. Hope this helps!
Sadly doesn't work for me but I was hopeful considering how deep they hide these settings now in W11.
Tried no spatial sound, normalisation, adjusting quality, disabling devices, taking off exclusive and more! Never encountered this weird weird bug in any game before.

the more people post about audio issues the higher the chances they'll do something about it
