Spoiler Mimic
Is it just me or is the Pyrite Imitec just complete rng? Am i missing something because it seems like if it sleeps even one party member it one turns you?

it hasn't 1 turned me before but it hitting a weak because of it is a close won thing, the game did provide suggestions on how to stop it from comboing you, you can buy a hint from the inn about it, ill do a spoiler in case someone doesn't want to see it.

mechant throw money attack will make it skip an action, so half its turn is wasted

ah okay, i think the balancing in this game is super weird and ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Theres something to be said about mystery in a game, but this game on hard seems excessive to the extreme. I understand keeping some mystery to the world, but feels bad to be forced to reload a save because the devs want you to.

Dont know how much the hint will help when I'm playing on Hard and it criting sleeping party members for almost 400. Thanks anyway!

well in this context, its gonna do only 1 action per turn, so it'll be like sleep->your turn(recover from sleep and atack)->their turn(sleep or other aoe/single attack) repeat.

the game does recommend buying those hints, but you can always learn through fire if you want lol.

They are certainly one of the hardest most RNG enemies you will face on Hard. A merchant to spread some coins certainly helps but even then the chances of losing multiple people in one round is high, pair that with not being able to ambush them and it's just a recipe for frustration if you don't come into the fight completely prepared.

Even completely prepared, if your whole party sleeps, he wipes you. Theres nothing you can do, which is why i find this games encounter design absolutely horrid sometimes. Its like theres 2 devs teams making encounters. One of them wanted hard, but winnable fights and the other wanted you to quit the game in rage.

The first dev team made most of the games fights, they make sense and are usually tought, but fair, and the other dev team did lsd and wanted to torture people.

Increasing Gallica's confidant level will reveal them outright and you can just 1 hit them.

On normal its easy as shxt. And on hard the rng kills you. Everything was going well and before the last hit or 2 my team is a sleep. Next round was crits and wipe. Call me a ♥♥♥♥♥ but I am playing this level on normal.

Use Protect Guard Synthesis skill. It eats both of the enemy's turns when it blocks the AoE, even if it crits someone else. It's a decent amount of SP to use it multiple times, but the dungeon is short enough that you can get away with it without much trouble. It, and Energy Ray on Brawler trivialize the boss even without Merchant.

There's igniters which block sleep. Given you can identify the mimic before triggering the combat (via Gallica) just carry a couple of those around and equip them on key characters before 'opening' the 'chest'. For bonus points, also keep a couple of the meals you can cook that remove afflictions from the entire party handy.

If you buy the hints from the informer you will know how to deal with the mimics.
They say to distract them with money and prepare to deal with the sleep status.
You can purchase accessories that make you immune to sleep, and if you use the fairy sight you will see the mimics chest highlighted as red, just equip the accessories when you are about to fight them and use the basic merchant skill
In case anyone ever looks at this, I was level 17 when I did this and did not unlock the merchant class yet. I had all 3 members as brawlers to resist the blunt damage. Strohl and MC skill inherit hama and Hulkenburg skill inherit knight's proclamation: Hama, hama, knight's proclamation, guard, guard, guard. I had the rejuvenation bell on Hulkenberg you get from same dungeon... Surprisingly, easy win. Just in case, someone else is having issues early on :)
