It's heavy on the dialogue - comparable with P5 The Royal.
Metaphor is a very story-driven game. I get why some people don't like that but since the story is one of this game's strengths I'm actually glad how it is.
, although gameplay loop makes it more restrictive?
thus it can sometimes feel like you watch more cutscenes
Mainly due to how you travel from place to place rather than sit in one city for entire game like in personas. Due to travel part of the adventure it feels more like traditional rpg but also feels more restrictive cuz you cannot be given free time while you move between cities, only cutscenes and story beats.
gameplay after 1st dungeon with deadline look something like:
scripted travel for few days -> reached major settlement, watch some cutscenes -> you get deadline to complete a dungeon -> repeat
There's sometimes less travel part but still you get story progression - cutscenes instead.
Imo I enjoyed it despite feeling more restrictive and feeling of getting more cutscenes than gameplay. Afterall it's new IP so parts of it might not be as refined. Looking forward for potentially new entries
You can skip dialogue. Unfortunately you can't skip transitions/load screens so if you don't care about the story it is a whole lot of nothing but again it's a story based game.
I can Imagine
On your 1st?
Why are you even playing an RPG then
I can understand some of it, a second play through especially or if you can read faster than they talk or if you only care gameplay but yeah. They put all that effort into it and they didn't even read the tags before buying lol
I mean why even play at that point? especially a game like this. if you just wanna shut your brain off and kill things, call of duty sounds more like something for that sort of person.
Call of duty doesn't have this franchises signature turn based gameplay. I myself have been skipping huge portions of text because I have played enough of these games to not need a tutorial.
There's nothing wrong with only liking the gameplay over the story. I was more teasing them for complaining about dialogue in a story based game. They could have been much more concise with what they are trying really trying to say though, because I can only guess.
Suggesting OP to dive into Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance. That's 90% gameplay and really challenges you for your money.
Because you don't get to pick up shuten doji and steamroll the entire game you are actually incentivized to strategize and switch your builds up effectively meaning there's more gameplay in this game because you have an actual reason to interact with the gameplay systems. Gameplay reminds me more of SMT than persona in that respect.
