Your character will face racism because he's one of the lesser race/more disliked race though, so if you can't stand that kind of discrimination, you are out.
I like it because it shows how ugly racism is to Asians.
In truth you need to remember this is a Japanese company. There has been some woke infiltration in GLORIOUS NIPPON but its very weak. So we can give the benefit of the doubt here.
So why is the game giving woke signals? There are around 13 races in this fantasy kingdom and very few of them get along. They treat each other horribly and yes some of them are the losers in this exchange. Whats distinctly lacking is woke framing inserted.
Basic non-spoilers follow, this is prologue info but if you are a reeeeee spoilers person then you are warned.
The villain isn't a member of the race that is on top and is maliciously oppressing people. Hes in fact a highly competent member of one of the mid ranked races that is using underhanded methods to get power. The character you play is a royalist. Trying to help the hereditary prince. No woke game would have portrayed the characters this way.
You could honestly convince me that the fairy character was actually meant to hold a mirror up to extreme DEI activism--we have all the hallmarks like complaining that somewhere is "diverse, but not diverse enough" and then my favorite where she decides the PC should be mad about derogatory things said to him instead of letting him decide for himself, even trying to jump straight to violence.
The protag is meant to represent a Japanes/Asian expy, we don't get mad that easily.
But Gallica knows how painful it is, she's basically showing our frustration to being called a heretic and getting spat on.
The former begets the latter.
Not many western games show the outright racism against Asians like this game does.
Either Asians don't exist or we are just super friendly with the white protagonists.
This game showcases the racism that Asians actually face when we come to Europe or America.
Well, I live in the USA where racism is virtually nonexistent to the extent that people in my country will actually stage racism in order to make it seem like it exists. Like Jussie Smolette. In the USA, the supply for racism can't even meet the demand.
The only people that attack and kill Asians with any regularity happens to be another group of people who themselves claim to be the biggest victims of racism.
I mean. the US is pretty big dude. Saying that no bad things ever happen to anyone is kind of... Silly lol. Hell even white people suffer racism over there afaik
