Are you guys able to beat Grand Cathedral dungeon in one day on normal?
I...definitely cannot. After fighting the first mini boss who is in the center with 4 enemies beside them who they buff, I've completely run out of resources. No more MP items. Don't have much HP items left.

I can definitely tell I'm well over halfway. But I cannot push anymore further. I don't have ♥♥♥♥ left.

I remember this was exactly my experience for games like Persona 4 and 5. It takes me a couple in-game days to beat. I can't do them in one go for my first time. But after that, I realised that I could actually do the second dungeon in one in-game day, and the rest of the dungeons were so manageable to do in one day.

Is it just me, or do you guys only feel the challenge in Metaphor and Persona games in the first couple dungeons before it becomes piss easy? Cause it's a good sign I can't beat this dungeon in one go, but I feel like it gets easier from here as I unlock stuff and "get gud".

There is a way to game the system and make sure you can do it in one day. But its grindy and really boring.

MC Mage, passive on the overworld restores 1 MP per enemy defeated or stunned before Squad battle. You can, just run around and nuke enemies, restore MP then go back up where you have to fight and rinse repeat. Really really dull, but it's doable.

And I wouldn't worry about the pace everyone else plays at. Personally I think its more fun to push things out and just take your time. Raise some King Traits, meet some new Followers, get access to shops and stuff, while slowly cutting through the dungeons.

in persona i can usually do it but not here.
i managed to get to the top beating all mini bosses on the way and try to beat the last boss, but i can feel that im a bit underleveled. its definitely not supposed to be done in one day

Unlock mage for main character and equip it. Proceed to kill weak enemies without entering turn based combat, every enemy you kill while mage archetype is equiped restores 1 mp for all characters. And you can respawn enemies by entering safe rooms or academia.

Also it doesn't matter if you speced your MC into strenght as most damage comes from equiped weapon.

yes you can definitly do it in one day, you just have to get strong enough to make enemies difficulty to blue so that you can kill them in one strike. Then you just put your main-protag on Mage archetype, and badabing badaboom: you get MP for your group with every enemy you one-hit kill out of combat. do that for a while and you regenerate your groups MP AND also farm some easy points for leveling.

So TL;DR i actually found the first dungeon much easier to do on one day then the dungeons of P5 and P4 where MP was actually a source that run out.

Inherited Skills will also make a big difference.
There was also a strategy I found for the boss that worked out for me, basically kept him in a loop of always summoning so he didn't do any actual damage.

Get brawler, level up brawler for 2 characters, buy medicine and use physical attacks

Wow. The Mage tactic sounds really tedious...but I'll give that a shot. Thanks for letting me know that cheesy strat.
Dagný Oct 12, 2024 @ 10:39am
It is more than tedious.

If you abuse Mage's mp generation and grind weaker mobs for quite sometime I can see it being douable.

You can also use 2 brawlers and abuse Knight's overworld heal.

The 3 cordials you can buy in town can help too. Otherwise you can lower the difficulty if you wish to not waste a day or do the mage MP trick as mentioned.

I used 4 days. It's a weirdly massive first main mission for not having mp regen.

I have never played a Persona game so this is my first experience in a game with this structure - What happens if I run out of days and it becomes impossible for me to complete a task like this dungeon with the days I have left?

you would get a game over

but you have so much time that its almost impossible to fail unless you just ignore the dungeon until the last day and cant finish it then
nephalim Oct 14, 2024 @ 10:55am
Yes I did it. Refilled MP twice using Mage's hero passive.
JCKLNTRN Oct 14, 2024 @ 11:11am
I was able to do it, but did have to use all but one of my MP consumables. I did the optional dungeon available at that time first though, so may have been a higher level than you.

The second main story dungeon was much less tight for me, as I had a lot more consumables plus I had my protagonist as a mage (did not stop to intentionally grind), but again I did the optional dungeons first (the story dungeons are a lot larger than the side dungeons, so doing the side dungeons first can be very beneficial, in terms of rewards and character growth).

The Knight class has a skill to heal for 2mp that can only be used outside of battle. I always keep that available as its much more efficient than other healing outside battles.

Just don't wait until the last couple of days to do the story dungeons, obviously, give yourself some breathing space, just in case.
