Difficult level
So started the game on normal and played for a few hours (just about to enter the mine). And so fare everything just dies in one or two rounds, will it become more difficult later on or should i restart at a higher level?

The mine is when it starts to get hard for me on Hard.

Beware of sandworms!

I'm playing on hard, and it's definitely quite frustrating at points. If a squad of 4 or 5 enemies get the first turn on you they will demolish your party. You either burn through precious resources to win or reset the fight to get a better start.

Or you can switch all your abilities so that you don't have any weaknesses to the current enemies. They already get extra turns on hard, and if they hit a weakness they get another extra turn. So if 4 enemies each cast an AOE on your party you're just dead lol

At times it seemed a bit off to me, because I feel a bit forced to 'reroll' fights until the optimal outcome is achieved. Mana replenishment is so rare that it's also better to focus stats into abilities that don't require mana. Though I guess you could consider that part of the difficulty as a strategy game.

Not sure if any of my rambling is helpful. But hard will definitely be harder. I'm just not sure if it will feel like a fun kind of hard

Good ol' Atlus balancing where Normal is way too easy and Hard is easy as long as you go first and nearly an instant wipe if you don't.

Bro, I was playing on hard and I got to the first side dungeon but the boss there was literally one tapping 2 or all of my team with one aoe move. Seeing how I was a bit underleveled because you get less XP on hard and that I had to do a really cheesy strategy (with some rng luck) to get this boss beaten I swapped to normal.

It's such cheesy bs that you get exp on hard. As soon as I found out that's the case I went back to normal. I love starting out on hard for RPGs and adjusting if it's too much but the fact that I was 5 levels behind the Scottomancer and farming the level 20 birds outside the boss door was barely moving my bar I said ♥♥♥♥ it and gave up.

That's not hard, that's a waste of time.

I was never underleveled so idk what you did, skipped enemies? The only time i had to grind was when the last boss was lvl 75 and i was 61

It's like this on Hard too.

The only difference is if they survive the stun round there's a decent chance of them killing you if they're not trash mobs.

Hard isn't that "hard" (at first) but you basically have to abuse the ambush mechanics on fights. Letting enemies get a turn is basically a game over early game (and really all game)

Obviously you can't do this in boss fights but later in the game when enemies get like 7 or 8 turns, it's just absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ brutal.

Thats my one gripe with it, it's not hard at all unless you're ambushed...

That's just how the Press Turn system works. And presumably why you always have to do something to guarantee getting the first turn. Going first is going to be a huge advantage in any system that segregates your and the enemies' turns, simply due to the nature of it, and this is especially true for the Press Turn system. If you know what you're doing, you can decimate encounters, but if you mess up, you're in trouble. Being able to destroy encounters if you do everything right does not inherently mean it's not hard.
