How does the save system work?
Does it have save points with consequences where you die like in SMT3? Or is it casual and the game has unlimited saving and auto-saves?

It only has 15 save slots* and you cannot save in the dungeon, but the game has an auto-save system where it auto-save each time you get into a fight, and re-load that if you got a party-wipe (no change in HP/MP tho).

So half & half?

So far the game is challenging though, probably the hardest JRPG I play in years.

You can usually save anywhere in town, or while on the gauntlet runner.

In dungeons you can only save at rest areas or the cat, which act as save points.

Well that's something at least I suppose, there seems to be a minimum of consequence.
