I have an issue with the idea of creative Atlus teams possibly having been "reeducated" by the very same people who are bent on erasing fun from Japanese games, with this game being the obvious result.
There is no real fanservice content in Metaphor. Picking a girl to make your queen could have easily been in the game, but was apparently scrapped. No one has any real sex appeal and there is evidence that one of the characters had her assets reduced during development.
That's what makes this game a departure from Persona, Catherine etc.
Paired with, let's face it, the heavy handed messaging and honestly, it makes it all very suspect.
Go outside, touch the grass on the ground, then come back.
I initially thought you started a thread to encourage discussion and consider different perspectives, but it seems this is not the case and I was mistaken. My bad for not recognizing the null value of your thread and your participation in this board.
Speak for yourself :P I think what you mean is none of the characters are attempting to engage in melee combat while wearing what is basically a swimsuit, which could simply be a result of them going for something more of a gritty realism aesthetic to distinguish their fantasy RPG from competitors like Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy. Even then, there's plenty of ladies in the game sporting what would be considered the classic femme fatale look, and of course the school uniform DLC if that's what floats your boat.
SMT4 starts off in a kingdom. All the main characters dress appropriately for their positions, and even when you go underground, everything is still very fitting.
Atlus is good at creating a setting. Not pointless fanservice, there are other games for that (or DLC costumes)
This is dishonest and manipulative language. In order for something to be "scrapped" it would need to have existed in the first place, and there is no evidence for that.

Rend, slaughter, devour your enemies.
There is no other way to survive, you cannot escape your hunger, warriors of Purgatory.
We beg.

The day we feast is close.
An SMT4 port (that can come with Apocalypse cause why not), that only needs 1 Screen, and has the map improvements from Apocalypse.
Yeah I'm not claiming to have certainty on this matter. This is an inkling I've been having about the game based on observation. Like something here just seems wrong.
I also recognize there are other holes you can poke to ultimately give Metaphor the benefit of the doubt. For example P3 Reload is a recent game from Atlus that, despite being tampered with, still included the female fanservice costumes intact and easily obtainable. You'd think they get rid of them but they didn't and I was almost surprised they were there.
Funny thing is I swear I am not trying to goon. I literally never equip swuimsuit or fanservice outfits. They break the immersion for me. I just want to know that the creative vision is realized without compromises. I just can't stand Japanese game makers being told something is too risqué or need to be changed, which localizers have admitted to doing and even consider it part of their pay grade.
