Having male characters that look feminine or androgenous isn't anything new from Nippon Land, but it's usually thrown into something as "just something different" and normally isn't really common within a singular plot; one or two characters at most.

What made me raise my eyebrow is that there are 3 of these characters introduced one right after another within the first hour of the game: the protag, the prince, and More (who, from the cutscene, you would absolutely assume is a woman if you didn't hear his VA).

This is not a "problem" and I'm not complaining, but it definitely popped out at me and makes me wonder why. I'm half expecting Atlus to do this with another 3 characters within 6 hours of playtime. Atlus also did this with SMT V, but in that game it was just the protag, and therefore within the expected "ok we're just doing this rare thing that's something different" margins. I'm starting to wonder if some character designer at Atlus with a fetish for this kind of thing got promoted to a lead position or something.
None of these characters even look like girls...

How can you even mistake More for a girl? Long hair?

this is one of the many reasons why i wont play atlus rpgs anymore besides their dull and boring worlds story's and annoying music and art. when i see the main character of an atlus game i look at them and think. why would i want to play this bland dull and unintresting weeb looking character.

In his intro cutscene he's got the long hair, the lashes, and the lips that specifically are drawn in anime solely on female characters with extremely rare exceptions (he might have had nails as well while petting the cat, I don't remember). If you showed the cutscene to anyone, muted, 99% of people would immediately think "that's a chick."

It's worth noting that his speech portrait looks considerably less feminine than the anime cutscene; the portrait looks more akin to rocky horror picture show style gothic guy.

Weird, I never think he looks even remotely like a chick.

I think people nowadays have been increasingly become extreme in their thoughts.

Ironically you're being exactly the same way you're assuming I am: jumping to conclusions about something because of sociopolitical dispositions.

Look at this: https:// /ibb. co/LdJ5wvB (remove spaces)

Long hair, lashes, eyeliner, lips. There is nothing "extreme" about assuming that that's a female character. What's "extreme" is calling people "extreme" for believing that a character with drawn feminine traits is a woman. Don't do this, we both know what it is and you're arguing to argue, pretending that rain isn't wet. You're being "just as bad" as the "extreme" people.

And as I said, this kind of thing isn't an issue, it's just strange it's more common than usual in this game.

I also really don't get it.
The exclusion of a female choice is just lazy here because the protag. being male changes nothing about the overarcing story. It just isn't there because they didn't want to invest extra time which is no excuse when you're asking for 70 bucks.

To be fair, I don't notice most of these features, his built and face are clearly manly thus I don't assume he is feminine or a woman.

it's fine to want one thing, but judging them for catering to the larger male player base is a weird thing these days.

well rest easy, indications seem to be persona 6 might have that choice. makes sense, since it's a bigger budget game for them. probably has a lot more put into it than Metaphor.

Nah, I'm actually in agreement here. But that's purely because there's NO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason P3R didn't have the FemC option.
