Anyone know how to make your allies use their powers and tactics them selves?
I remember in the persona games you could just adjust them in tactics, It doesn't seem to be working in this one.

people avoided the question but there is a tactics menu in which you should be able to tell them to automatically fight.

as others said its a bad idea, but go nuts.

Not avoided. This only controls the tactics auto-battle function I mentioned which is a toggle able mode that is either off or on for your whole party. You have to double toggle it if you want to maintain control.

This only allows you to set auto battle tactics which makes the entire party auto-battle, (MC included). Ideally this would be a setting per character to allow fine tuning of tactics (like Persona)

In my testing on hard difficulty, the party AI does fine except for some very specific boss mechanics where they tend to defend when they don't have to (For example some bosses target a row, so as long as you move out of that row you can attack freely, the party will defend). Other than that, they will exploit, pass turns, and will even try to avoid overkill.

it has multiple options.

I never understood why some people want to just control the main char. If you can control one, you can control four, it's just a bigger pool of skills.
It's better to know what attacks the party will use so that you can synergize than be at the mercy of an AI.

Boredom mostly. The dungeons in this game are every bit as big as Persona 5's. AI makes it a little more interesting. They can and will synergize (to the point that they'll pass up turns so that the next party member can use a synthesis skill). SMT games have had good AI since Persona 4.

OP's question was about having a setting similar to Persona's "Free Will" for each party member. My answer is that it technically exists, but in a very inconvenient form, you have to toggle auto-battle off/on every turn and you can't set different tactics for each party member.

I don't care how the original Persona 3 is played. I prefer that style of game play Hence I am looking for a way to let my party be controlled by them selves.

I'm with you. I don't wanna act like someones fuzzy mom, managing their every skill, I wanna feel like I'm part of a competent team. If they add party AI, or someone makes a mod for it, I'm buying the game at once, but for now, hard pass. Controlling all of your team is sooooo boring.

I remember how people whined a lot about P3 not being able to command characters, now it's the reverse, it's kinda funny.

I don't want to control them is the thing. I want to let them just do their own attacks. I would like to just control my own character.
Spoken like someone who hasn't played the original Persona 3

You might be lost! This is the discussion page for Metaphor: ReFantazio, not Persona 3! Two different games with different AI.

You will gain control of them after awhile, do not worry.
How long?

I’m with you on this one (original post) I wish I didn’t have to control the whole party just MC. Maybe they will patch it. I was gonna buy game on sale but now I’m on the fence.

I loved the combat in P5R P3R DQ11 and I would always let a.I control companions to make it more interesting.

I personally prefer controlling all the characters but I suspect that the option to automate companions is due to "one press" requiring more thought than "one more." One more made it so that the second hardest difficulty was actually harder than the highest difficulty in P5R. I'm guessing they tried automating this but it just wasn't satisfactory.

This feature would've been nice way to make the game harder in NG+. It'd have also been a fresh way to replay the game, oh well.
