This is the first RPG game that made me actually WILLINGLY use items to help out in battles.

And you know why and how? The fracking in battle RESTART BUTTON that defeats the mind goblin's "but what if you waste it and you need it later" attack.

I just used 20 items for 5 side bosses in a row

I'm trying to get over that mind goblin. I used to play every RPG the same way and at the end of the game I'd have an inventory stuffed with "deal 15 wind damage" spells when even my base attacks are dealing 200. Designers give you expendables to help you, so use them -- is how I try to play now.

Especially in Atlus RPG's where I can't just go to town and rest whenever I want.

It's the first game that has a job system that has sever made me swap people's jobs. I swap them constantly. I have everyone working on 3 or 4 at a time, it's wild. i've never played a game where job swapping felt more justified, and its thanks to the press-turn-adjacent battle system. Brute force wins in other games with jobs. Just struggle through it. But in this game it really makes a huge difference.
