The more triangles you get, the more MAG you receive, but it doesn't matter that much cause you can farm MAG in the overworld too.
Only dialogue choices that really matter are the ones that come up around the end of the game.. Depending on your answers, you'll end up with different "endings", but the game makes it REALLY clear which answers you gotta pick to get the true ending. At least they appeared hella obvious to me.
Edit: You also get some money and a single point of imagination if you choose the right option in a debate
You rank up with each event, there is no value to attain. But in rank up events and virtue events, you can get magla if your answers are good and extra virtue points in virtue events (usually 4 points instead of 3).
The little triangles is the magla you get, the more the better, but not every answer gives you magla (usually 1 to 3 triangles sometimes 4 I believe). The game will show your magla counter at the end of the events if you gain some.
