Just look at his cute big red eyes. How can you not like him??
I'm hoping you like him more after a couple of Bond scenes and after the dungeon he helps in, but his Archetype makes more sense after you get some info about the Shadowguard as well.

You're right about the archetype, though. Thief is kind of an awkward approximation of his skills that's not really appropriate. He's very clearly designed as more of a ninja type.
It is the ninja type. Quite literally.
The Magical Bread you can make early on gives 4 MP per 5 seconds or so in overworld, and they aren't too hard to make if you do a little Merchant farming for the money. Feels better than burning a turn in combat.
How do you get the Magical Bread recipe btw? I haven't gotten it yet, currently in the Castle dungeon in Martinas.
Kinda glad they went with this direction with him since I was worried he was going to be a joke character just because of his appearance.
