Food is surprisingly versatile. Don't neglect it!
I didn't use much Food until the last month of the campaign, but I felt a fool for ignoring it. It's easy to buy the ingredients later in the game, so with Merchant farming you can make 99 stacks of great food to carry your Support roles or lessen the grind.

MP regeneration/restoration:
Magical Bread grants MP regen at about 4MP per 5 seconds for 1 minute in the overworld. Can't stick with things like Finisher Noodles as an overworld effect but effective at extending long stays in dungeon grinds!

Cursed Love Ballad immediately restores 100 MP and cures Hex for all allies. All the ingredients can be bought in stores during the last month of the game so this is, by far, the best MP restoring item that can be easily and quickly farmed in the endgame.

Grinding:
Finisher Noodles causes you to immediately 1shot any enemy in the overworld, regardless of level for 30 seconds. If you want to go through an area quickly or want to ease the grind for a few levels, the ingredients for this simple dish can also be bought at vendors too. For the last area when you're destroying the Crystals on the way to Louis their value cannot be overstated for saving MP by breezing through the high level enemies there.

Combat:
Almighty Golden Stew gives +1 stack to each buff (Atk/Def/Hit/Evade) to ALL PARTY MEMBERS. Another Ingredient-Vendor recipe that makes it CONSIDERABLY easier to maintain buff stacks in lengthy combat. After an initial buffing turn, 1 character can use the Stew ever 3 turns to keep constant buffs for everyone (unless boss removes them...)

Coney Stew removes status ailments for the whole party. You can get this recipe early on (One of Strohl's) but it's value is not to be ignored, especially for the endgame sidequest to hunt down the 3 dragon towers, as one of the bosses does a Mass Charm > Mass Wipe combo.

Sublime Spoonful grants additional Turn Icons... but the ingredients require you to fish off your Runner, so getting a stockpile of these is scarcely worth the effort imo but it deserves a place on the list. Though this recipe only unlocks after you have crafted every other recipe at least once further adding to its complexity and time cost.

Also, while it's not really food, some Scrolls deserve honorable mentions!
Amnesty and Reset scrolls from Magic vendors remove all buffs or debuffs from allies or enemies respectively. This frees up having a dedicated debuff remover or buff remover in your party, in case they have another role to play at the time anyone can use the scrolls.

Tinned Torpor and Corrosive Acid scrolls from vendors lower enemy Attack or Defense by one respectively, once again freeing the debuffer role if needed for maintaining existing debuffs past the 3 turn limit.
Evil Eye scroll doesn't come from vendors, but it gives -1 to all 3 buffs, so keep a few of those handy when you can!

Just thought I'd share this here, since shops are so stingy with MP restoring items. Making a massive batch of food can carry you through hard battles, ease the grind with battle skips or free up various roles for additional party-build diversity.

This topic should be pinned. Also, the Merchant and Tycoon Item passive that boost effectiveness STACK with anything that does a numerical value for a consumable. MP restoration item that restores 50 MP? it now restores about 80 MP in combat if used by the person with both of those passives equipped. Works with elemental attack scrolls too.

Agreed. The scenes with each party member discussing the dish is better than other games where you flip meat in a pan for a moment and get a stew. xD
