I wonder if I'm playing the game wrong
So, I'm not that far into the game I think. My party is somewhere around lvl 30, with only 1 member being lvl 29. Whenever I open the menu to check out how other players are faring at that point into the game, I see people mid 30s to 40s in level, wtf?

I'm not rushing the game, I do all the side quests as soon as I can. I'm not steamrolling the game, but not struggling constantly either. But I feel like I don't have enough time to farm dungeons because I don't have enough mp to keep pushing, my basic attacks don't deal enough damage(even though I try to keep up with the latest gear available) to justify relying only on them and also or I have other stuff to do in town.

So my question is, how are you guys being so overleveled all the time? Maybe I'm underleveled?

I don't want to spoil it for other people but, I recently unlocked the commander class, and just beat a dungeon that had a lich that summoned a chimera.

Am I underleveled? Am I supposed to keep grinding after beating dungeons?

Please, share your strategies!

Others probably said the same thing, use mage archytype and kill mobs on outerfield (where you keep whacking enemies before stun or killed it 1-2 hits) to recover mp, use dia to heal your party, back to grind outerfield until you get like 10 exp per mob, then you can stop grinding.
Wow thanks for the very quick reply. This strategy seems really really cheesy, but I mean, I'll definitely try it lol, thank you!
if the developpers did make it that way its not cheesing at all. Atlus game habitually want you think outside of the box to adapt in a situation that will work but before doesn't

The solution to this "problem" is simple. Don't look at the stats of others.

Are you an individual, or are you a hive-mind type of gamer? Do you feel "left behind" if you don't mach up with others? If that's the case it's simply sad.

Personally I don't give one bit about "what others do". If I play a game it's a individual experience (I play single player games only), and the hell what others do. Only if I got stuck for some reason I look at some guides, or ask questions. But even if I get the lowest rating possible I don't care a single bit about it

The only thing I care about is having as much fun as possible. Nothing more, nothing less.

I honestly don't know if you are answering me honestly, or just trying to be rude for no reason whatsoever. Anyways, I'll assume you are not being rude and I'm misunderstanding what you are saying.

It's not like I care if I'm being left behind. But, when I play games let's say, with some friends. I like to know where they are in the game, what they've done and stuff like that. Since the game provides a way for me to share and to know about how other people are faring, it piques my curiosity. So I couldn't ignore the fact that most people are way ahead of me in levels, not only 1 or 2 random players, but most of them. That is why I decided to make a post, so maybe I could hear from other players what are their strategies, maybe I've missed out a huge game mechanic, or a dungeon.

if your seeing enemies as primarily yellow, your golden in terms of being in the right place at the right time.

that said, a lot of people do just like fighting, and its very easy to over-level in that regard, the moment you get 3 levels above the most common enemy, you can farm them super fast, which can lead into a loop of farming, to get mana items, to kill stronger enemies, that just makes getting more exp even faster.

as long as it feels like you are having fun/not struggling its fine.

if i remember right: by that area butterfly enemies start appearing, and they drop mana items, so im not surprised people start farming heavily.
I think this is the best answer here imo!

It's a game that's very open to grinding if players are that way inclined (which I myself am lol, I musta spent like 30+ hours grinding mobs in this game XD), so you'll probably always see parties of higher levels than you no matter what date you check the online checker thing.

As long as all the enemies you're facing aren't Red, then you're absolutely playing the game fine and can have fun without putting on old episodes of LOST and grinding lmao.

In fact, if the majority of enemies you're facing are Yellow, I'd say that's the closest to the intended experience you can be so, if anything, you'd be playing the game right not wrong!

It is extremely easy to lose track of time grinding enemies and ending up horribly overleveled with the way overworld combat works. It's real easy to end up overleveled if you feel like grinding money by equipping Merchant and just smacking blue enemies for a while.

I know I've been getting kinda overleveled just from grinding mana with mage so I could easily do dungeons in one go. Aaaaand now I'm sitting in an optional dungeon near the second town grinding money out and that's also probably overleveling me a little.

Mostly just depends on how much extra grinding you do really, sometimes levels (both character and archetype) are incidental compared to other things you want.

I think my archetype levels are lower than my actual character levels
I'm currently at the BIG boss in September and I'm about levels 53, but my MC hasn't got many mastered archtypes neither do my party, I tend to stick to a few to level up during the free time and that just never seems to give me enough time to get more skills.

lol i find it crzy people are spending 10 hours grinding or more. i tried grinding one time, after an hour i was bored to tears. na its more fun just scraping through the game, bumping into bosses 10 lvls above me and have actual hard encounters lol.

The only grinding I did was looting every inch of the whole dungeon.
Giganx Oct 22, 2024 @ 6:36pm
If you're using Mage to grind back MP constantly so you can finish dungeons in one day, then you'll also be doing a lot of passive leveling. Main reason I can think of why there might be a large level disparity.

If it too difficult at some point there's no harm to lower difficulty and go for NG+.
