I wonder if I'm playing the game wrong
So, I'm not that far into the game I think. My party is somewhere around lvl 30, with only 1 member being lvl 29. Whenever I open the menu to check out how other players are faring at that point into the game, I see people mid 30s to 40s in level, wtf?

I'm not rushing the game, I do all the side quests as soon as I can. I'm not steamrolling the game, but not struggling constantly either. But I feel like I don't have enough time to farm dungeons because I don't have enough mp to keep pushing, my basic attacks don't deal enough damage(even though I try to keep up with the latest gear available) to justify relying only on them and also or I have other stuff to do in town.

So my question is, how are you guys being so overleveled all the time? Maybe I'm underleveled?

I don't want to spoil it for other people but, I recently unlocked the commander class, and just beat a dungeon that had a lich that summoned a chimera.

Am I underleveled? Am I supposed to keep grinding after beating dungeons?

Please, share your strategies!

if your seeing enemies as primarily yellow, your golden in terms of being in the right place at the right time.

that said, a lot of people do just like fighting, and its very easy to over-level in that regard, the moment you get 3 levels above the most common enemy, you can farm them super fast, which can lead into a loop of farming, to get mana items, to kill stronger enemies, that just makes getting more exp even faster.

as long as it feels like you are having fun/not struggling its fine.

if i remember right: by that area butterfly enemies start appearing, and they drop mana items, so im not surprised people start farming heavily.

Others probably said the same thing, use mage archytype and kill mobs on outerfield (where you keep whacking enemies before stun or killed it 1-2 hits) to recover mp, use dia to heal your party, back to grind outerfield until you get like 10 exp per mob, then you can stop grinding.

Wow thanks for the very quick reply. This strategy seems really really cheesy, but I mean, I'll definitely try it lol, thank you!

I barely drop mana pills, maybe I can steal them? I should pay attention to enemy drops and steal more often. They are so precious and rare, that I only use when I want to keep pushing dungeons further.

As I understand it, the experience you get depends on the difficulty level. So I don't think it's a good idea to compare with other players.

Also, there are a lot of dungeons in the game, you could leave some for later, or skip them.

If you have problems with mana, you can switch to the mage archetype, which gives mana for killing mobs.

As for me. If you kill mobs at the beginning of the dungeon without entering the strategic mode or in 1 turn in the strategic mode, then everything is fine.

merchant level 2->20% bonus item drop, just shove it on everyone and kill butterflies and you'll get like like 1 every...30%? of the time, something like that.

yeah, i know its butterflies and it gets faster as you go (as far as i can tell) but the moment they show up, thats infinite mana in a far less painful way then mage, imo.

I made the unpleasant mistake of trying to play the game too efficiently... I went to some crypt with level 35 Minotaur dudes during a Stormy day for the added XP bonus and was engaging combat with field breaks to kill them in two turns before they could act for the Unscathed XP bonus... they started off Red to me but I grinded like 4 or 5 hours against them and the skeleton dudes around there until I could instakill them in the field... and another hour or two as well.

I had thought that, since they were so incredibly common in that crypt, that that was the level I was SUPPOSED to be at, and with it being a sidequest I thought the main mission was even beyond that... then I rolled up to the actual main dungeon and everything was so lower level than me that I didn't have a single fight... there were these super-high level enemies (Purple on map marker) and the party made a huge deal about them being super difficult and we need to avoid them! ... but I was killing them in one turn without ambush with Unscathed bonus and ended up farming them when I saw them to try and get Mask components out of them.

Now, some dozen hours later I'm still overleveled and it feels like I go through several hours of dialogue for every 10 minutes of actual combat. It's completely ruined the RPG aspects for me.

I guess what I'm saying is, you're not underleveled and I envy you.

I sat in the Imp's Den for a solid 3 hours just going around annihilating Euchronia's Goborn population. Once you get a blue enemy farm going you can very easily lose track of time. lol

No problem, just saw it and why not reply? I means it's in game mechanic and the passive described intendedly, so why not :V

Well basically we get higher levels than usual if we search over every corner of the map looking for loot. If you are speed running it's obvious your levels will probably be lower than some people.

If you're super concerned about being behind, don't be. I was concerned I was playing wrong and behind too, until I got to the 4th Dungeon area.

You can basically walk into that place at around level 38 and every single enemy in that place will be Blue and be killable on the overworld by the time you're level 40 or so.

You can also gain insane amounts of money and A-EXP for your Archetypes in this place.

As soon as you go into it, the very first big room before you entire the Dungeon proper has a bunch of Wasps and two Manticore enemies.

If you go in there at around level 38 you will be able to kill all of these enemies in the overworld combat.

Equip Merchant and gain insane amounts of money per run (like 10K) and 234 A-EXP on Hard difficulty. Once you kill them all, go back out the main entrance, re-enter and do it again.

Equip all of your people with Mastered Archetypes and you'll be swimming in Hero Leaves in about an hour. I was able to Max out the Tier 2 classes for everyone in my group doing it this way.

The solution to this "problem" is simple. Don't look at the stats of others.

Are you an individual, or are you a hive-mind type of gamer? Do you feel "left behind" if you don't mach up with others? If that's the case it's simply sad.

Personally I don't give one bit about "what others do". If I play a game it's a individual experience (I play single player games only), and the hell what others do. Only if I got stuck for some reason I look at some guides, or ask questions. But even if I get the lowest rating possible I don't care a single bit about it

The only thing I care about is having as much fun as possible. Nothing more, nothing less.

yeah, something super weird is going on with the levels. I went in the 4th story dungeon at lvl 38 and barely got any xp from fights, I ended up running away from a lot of the higher level enemies since it just wasn't worth it. Meanwhile, a lot of other players have like 5-10 levels above me since the very first dungeon. I play on normal. My take is that people either grind levels like there is no tomorrow, or you get more xp on easier difficulties, or both
Neru Oct 21, 2024 @ 2:31am
The only reason people grinding for high lvl so that they could just hack'slash the sheet off them for the lulz but the way i see it they'll do that every dungeons so idk they probly does it inside side dungeons.
