Game closes itself/crashes at a certain point, consistently

Spoilers, as I have to describe the situation that this happens in
As soon as I leave the safe room, and continue to face Morris and his monster, he says "And really, do you think this is the time to be running your mouths? He's hungry, you know." the game just up and closes. No error messages, no nothing, it closes and that's it, with 100% consistency. I tried updating my graphics driver, validating game files, and tinkering with resolution and graphic quality to no results. Can anyone help?

Not sure if it will apply here, my game crashed right after starting it, and I found the problem was the NVIDIA shadowplay feature. I disabled it and 0 crashes after that

So, I've played a bit more from a save file a bit (two hours) back, and what happened was that the game skipped over content, such as an ally joining a party and the whole cutscene, the fight and rewards, returning from the dungeon etc. and now i'm back on track to seeing if it works. If you have a save file from a bit back, try rolling back to that

So I'm screwed, I don't have any saves from before this part, am I going to have to start the game over from 0 after 80 hours of play??

I don't really know honestly, that's what worked for me, if you have tried other solutions and didn't work, maybe you can ask someone for a similar save file to yours?
