How strict is time management?
First off, this is my first ATLUS game. Just got to the point where it's explaining the calendar and time management and I'm seeing several quests around the city that require a day to complete and I'm feeling a little overwhelmed.

For those who are further in the game, am I going to be limited on time if I do these? Should I be focusing on something else? I really just don't want to mess up my game in the long-term by spending too much time with npcs.

It mentioned something about focusing on what kind of leader I want to be, but idk what any of the royal virtues are for, so I really have no idea which ones I should be focusing on. Feeling a bit aimless atm.

you have ample time to do every side quest and socialize

I focused on quests first, then follower ranks, then royal virtues and by clearing all dungeons in one go managed to complete everything with 15 days to spare.

Managed to clear *all* the quests by 10 days before "the end" as it were with maxed out Bonds, etc. Minor spoilers but the game gives you a full month before "the end" to catch up on stuff, though in my case that stuff took some 20 days. Just make sure you're not wasting days doing something like raising your stats in the wash tub or doing tasks that raise already maxed out virtues. You CAN miss stuff without a guide though.

Okay good to know my concern is unwarranted. It seems that as long as I'm not a total doofus with wasting time I'll be okay. Thanks a lot for the answers

Also, just to be totally clear, time won't progress on its own right? Like if I'm just walking around the city it won't be night from real time passing?

time is set like the persona games, only you can progress time by choosing a time consuming activity.

yes, time won't progress while you're walking around

That first dungeon you should do as soon as possible since follower rank ups are locked until it is completed. But you should stock up on the first idles day (and stock up well, that story dungeon is really long).
If you have items that need to be purified getting wisdom to rank 2 takes top priority. Do the bench once and the cooking sidequest and you should get there. Then you can decide if you want to tackle the dungeon or do other things in town. Depending on your difficulty setting the sidequest for the Merchant class will be near impossible for you at this point though.

I did the first dungeon in, like, two days after it being unlocked(got higher wisdom and a bit of other stuff). Does doing dungeon early is helpful? You don't end up with further events happening earlier due to doing dungeon early? I would not want to end up with less oportunities to do stuff due to being able to do a dungeon early and at one go.....

No one replied... Probably doesn't matter anymore... but usually the way the Persona games work (which is what this is modeled after), the game is in segments. Like, segment 1 is the above dungeon we've been talking about. You can do it at any time during the segment. Nothing really progresses until the next segment (but also functions as a hard deadline for that segment's dungeon).

Hope that makes sense. In the Persona games, lots of people would barrel through and do the main dungeon as early as possible in a segment in as few days as possible. In this game, it often makes more sense to do side quests first and get stronger; other times (like apparently in this first segment?) it makes more sense to do the main dungeon first.

I see. Basically each deadline means that story stuff happens there regardless when the dungeon was done. When it comes to activities it only changes which is first: dungeon or activities to raise stats/deepen the bonds with teammates.

Not too strict. Much more relaxed than Persona.

I've always tried to do everything as time-efficiently as possible, and I end up with about 15 days to spare.

I'm missing a few achievements but I didn't use a guide and went blind in this game but if I had thought about them beforehand I could have easily included them (e.g. win every debate).
