Why?

Japanese anime was the birthplace of Elves with long ears / "knife ears." That's why.

The first one shown like this was the old anime "Record of Lodoss War" OVA from 1990. A female elf named Deedlit was the first. Later in the show when Dark Elves were shown, it was the same thing, even the female named Pirotess.

That set a trend with Japanese anime and manga showing elves with longer ears.

I personally just found it cringe they used that, clearly western expletive... english writers appeantly have hard on for this term, since it's the only one they use for elves, wether it's in Dragon Age, Witcher, Rings of Power or now here.

That being said: Very long ears on elves always have been a thing in Anime... beats me why.

Her ears are doing their intended job then. Though I personally love longer ears like hers when it comes to elves.
