Archetype XP curves
Hi all,

Haven't seen anyone talk about the XP curves for the different Archetypes, so I thought I'd share my findings here. Hopefully you can use this information in your travels to calculate how many Hero's Leafs of Light you need to farm.

I am currently at the end of July as of writing this, so there may be changes later in the game I'm unaware of. I will update this thread if any unlocked Archetypes don't follow the below rules.

Each Archetype can fall under one of three XP curves.
The Archetypes you unlock when first forming a bond with a follower are almost all considered tier 1 of the XP scaling. The exception to this is the Faker lineage, their starting lineage Archetype has a tier 2 scaling. Every intermediate node in a lineage has tier 2 scaling. The final node in the Archetype lineage has tier 3 scaling.
Once an Archetype reaches level 20, they reach a 'mastered' phase. The XP scaling then changes. Filling up an XP bar when in this mastered phase will cost 1000XP no matter the tier. When you fill a bar up, you get a Hero's Leaf of Light, meaning the XP can be redistributed to different, non-mastered Archetypes. I haven't seen this 1000xp increase as you earn more Leafs, but I haven't done exhaustive testing on it.

Below are the values for each tier. This XP is cumulative, meaning if you have a tier 1 Archetype, and it is level 6, you have between 1400 and 1810 XP. Reaching 1810 XP means your Archetype is then level 7.

tier 1:
  • 1: 0xp
  • 2: 200xp

This is nice.

The floor beneath the boss in The Tower of Blind Faith gives you 500 A-Exp if you kill all the skeletons in bad weather, 400 otherwise. It's a good farm spot at end game because you can just interact with the cat to go to akademia* so they reset. Every two clears is 1000 A-Exp and with all 7(?) members using a maxed archetype that's 7000 A-Exp every two clears. The mimic on that floor also has a chance to give a leaf. You need to be level 56 or so though.

It's the most efficient and least painful way i've found outside of farming the enemies that spawn from those crystals and there's only a handful of crystals that produce a large enough volume of enemies to out pace the tower method.

EDIT: You can also use the tower to farm money with Merchant to buy Jeweled Root seeds from the last town for NG+ but I don't know how effective that will be.

Funnily enough i've had a bug on my regicide playthrough that made me gain 30x exp, it shows every character 3x on the exp screen and they get like 1 lvl from 5 exp lmao

https://imgur.com/a/Bk33ijg this was from getting 4 exp from a lvl 9 monster and my party went up 1,5 lvls and 3 archetype lvls each

The fact that you can keep "leveling" after max level and get XP boost items you can use anywhere EQUAL to the amount of XP you gained is such a brilliant design choice, it means it's never wasteful to keep playing a certain class after max

I think its good and bad at the same time, for example theres never a reason to use any other archetype because you lvl them faster by using your max lvl one

Never, really? What if your max lvl one sucks against what you're up against? Good luck using a lvl20 swordmaster against physically immune enemies or a lvl20 mage against Goborns.
Or you might want specific synthesis skills that are only available if you have a specific class with you // if you are a specific class.

I think it's a fantastic choice.

Nice work, very helpful for sure.
Wanted to add to this list; maxing out a brand new Royal Archetype requires 74,014 A-Exp. That's 24 Heroes Jewellled Roots. Not too bad if you have access to the Disgraced Ruins.

Edit: Well, 25.6, so 25 of them.
