Always Japanese and never English. For every game.
I’ve never experienced English VA better than the original Japanese.
Ever.
30+ years of anime and gaming.
So I guess I have to play all the games in the world only in English, because it's the best language? You don't have to insult people who prefer a different language than you if you don't like it. Now how many countries speak English and which ones don't? That's why there is a choice of language in games/movies if someone prefers a different one or wants to play/watch in the original. Limiting yourself to only one language in the world is already considered racism, not to mention how many countries and other languages there are. It's the same as leaving/working for x-years in another country without knowing the language of that country is also stupid, because you should know at least the basics of the language.
When it comes to dubs I really think it depends on which you hear first. I could never play a Yakuza game with english voices, and likewise I can't play this game with Japanese voices. I already have it in my head how the characters sound, so hearing a different voice come out of their mouth would just be weird.
It should also be taken into account how many years later the English dub was added to the Yakuza series, not counting the original first part on PS2. As for Xenoblade, I have no comparison because I've never played it and probably neither have others, because the series isn't available on PC, not to mention that not everyone has a console. I can't imagine playing with any other language than the original one and Metaphor, in my opinion, the result is simple, because it's a JRPG, so if I ever buy it because I like the gameplay and from the same creators as Persona, I'll play it in Japanese, as usual. Likewise, I can't imagine playing, for example, Metro and Stalker in English, never for me. Only in their original languages
Except the fact that I speak Japanese. Can't read it well, but can understand it. So yeah...
No, you're saying OPINION. Some people would actually like to hear the characters in a language they understand, and dubs are not automatically bad.
Obviously, if presented with a very bad dub, I'll switch the JP voices, but Metaphor's english cast, as is the case for a lot of Atlus games, is pretty good, so I see no reason to switch outside of curiosity or for learning purposes.
