Real time party based combat usually relies on pausing mid-battle and issuing command to each member, which can be more annoying than turn-based.
There are action oriented games I love too. What I like about turn based personally is that if I fail, I only have to get good at the strategy, setup, whatever was wrong and don't have to get guud in some real time actions, which I might just not be able to do in something like a first person shooter. I can always get guud at turn based games.
It's not like you can have a magical health bar and inventory screen in front of you IRL so why have that in the game.
