It means there's probably a wall you can unlock from the other side, but yeah it's pretty misleading. Pay it no mind.

I'm not sure where in the game you are, but she will react to the presence of switches and other intractable objects on the far sides of walls or in other corridors you can't otherwise reach yet.

The game just dose a straight "as the crow flies" distance measurement to such objects, giving no thought to the route you have to take to actually get there. That switch might be 5 feet from you, but you'll have to travel half of a mile on foot to actually reach it.

You are actively ignoring things Gallica point out and will miss out a ton of stuff.

You can use a guide instead but it's better and faster to just ask Gallica.
