How bad is the localization really?
I see curators say that current-day western politics were mis-translated into the game and posts in the discussion talking about changing models to be less revealing. Is there anything else the localizers altered for "western sensibilities"?

the game is very woke and mistranslated - dont play it!
It has always been Cringe, just like English Dubs. That will never change on Fatlus Games, just like them never removing Denuvo. Woke doesn't even have anything to do with this.

There is nothing wrong with the localization. Stop listening to people who use Google Translate complaining that the game isn't written the same way.

I think moralizing about diversity and inclusion when it wasn't there originally and changing models is a bit different than just grammar fixes. I think there is something wrong with the localization if the localizers are injecting their own personal agenda.

I've been playing in Japanese so I'm not super aware of how precisely they've translated every line, but diversity and inclusion is very much a sub-theme in this game. Racial division and prejudice are used as plot devices to talk about the greater theme of the anxiety we feel from seeing injustice and imperfection in our world; those being used as the catalyst to make changes and work towards a better one. Using hope as a defense against nihilism. How to be good in a world that is bad. What would a "good" world even look like? These are all central themes in the game, not fantasies of the localizers.

That said, it's possible that the localizers snuck in all sorts of other stuff, but it wouldn't be fair to say that diversity and inclusion was not there originally.

What I have seen is that by some line-by-line analysis, there are examples of lines not being translated especially faithfully, but even some of those claims were overblown in previous discussions.

The game literally has diversity and inclusivity as major themes. The protagonist's most treasured possession is a book detailing a world where there is no discrimination. The protagonist is from a race that is the most hated and discriminated against in the kingdom, with only the physical treatment of the animal-people being worse.

Also that picture of a "curvier" Hulkenberg was an old design at best and a photoshop at worst, and is not present in any version of the game.

Just play for the game play (I just fast forward as much as I can) as the story is overly melodramatic and at times annoying, looking at you Strohl.

People call the game woke and in the intro movie you have the church taking bribes, a homeless man getting kicked in the face, an old man being killed, and in the next movie you get called a "Filthy elda".

The second you reach the city people say "filthy elda" and "ugh an elda" like they are looking at an "certain people" like how they did in the 1900s
