FFXVI can hardly be called an RPG.. all you do is manage your equipment and that's about it. Any other character that fights with you is a guest and just that, they can't even be called party members cause you can't manage them whatsoever.
Metaphor, on the other hand, has a lot of RPG features, it also has press-turn combat system.. I personally dropped FFXVI and actually beat Metaphor.
Knowing Square has ruined what was great about FF games for me, i wont touch FFXVI until its on a 20€ sale or less. Nice visuals arent everything. From what I read online its one of the most bland and I am not sure what to think about this franchise anymore.
However Atlus never disappointed me so this game was an instant purchase, really enjoyed it so far.
At the end of the day its all personal preference tho. What do you prefer? Animu style games with turn based combat or beautiful AAA graphics with action based gameplay?
in terms of gameplay ffxvi is more action, full action, effects for every thing and everywhere, this game is more paused and strategy
about other things that made metaphor special is it is like a persona, you have social skills, a lot of characters with the ones you form bonds and are complex
i recomend to play both but if you dont have money you can find this if you are the type rpg classical and like a lot the roleplaying, if you like the hack a slash mixed with rpg in terms of gameplay ffxvi is more like it
FF16 is only 30 hours?
From a technical standpoint FF XVI feel more modern and needs a strong GPU+CPU to play smoothly.
On the contrary Metaphor is easier to run and doesn't require a beefy specs.
Anyway I love both, you won't be disappointed with either games.
Yea this is true. I read FFXVI is heavy on the pc. My pc is only midrange. 12th gen intel cpu and rtx 3060ti GPU.
Yes tbh I love both too. But I really do not have time to play both at the same time. I am still active on WoW so playing one of these games on the side.
Did your wife like FFXVI?
FFXVI has game of thrones vibe, gameplay is action-rpg, loved the cast but you only play one character. CG movies are awesome. DLC are great.
Metaphor is a great classic jrpg. it was great to up everyone and their relations to the max. tpt and archetype system is great and you feel very powerful in endgame. loved art direction and travelling the world with competitors.
took me 60h to finish FF16 + DLC, Metaphor in 86h (did everything in both games)
Thanks. I am leaning towards FF16. I am usually a turn based and party based rpg usually too. But black myth wukong allowed me to experience action rpg in a very enjoyable experience and so I am now more open to action rpg styles. Before I usually avoid action rpg. Only the witcher series was the other action rpg that I enjoyed and played aside from wukong.
It's like devil may cry but somehow even more simple and spammy.
