I played original P5 only and I'm perfectly happy about it for now. I bought P5R on sale though cause I will definitely want to replay it someday.

it's not that long anymore. atlus has been releasing/rereleasing games in a faster rate now. just take for example SMT 5, this game came out in 2021 and it's already rerelasing in this month. I believe this will be the new standard time for now on

SMT V Vengeance has an entirely different story attached to it now though and completely new mechanics. I'd see the argument with P5R and P5 since it mostly is the same game with a few new added plots and sections. But that'd be like saying "dont buy SMT4, buy SMT 4 Apocalypse instead" Which is wrong, theyre totally two different games. Even SMT V Vengeance made changes to the OG story with new super bosses aside from the entirely new story. That doesn't include entirely revamped battle system.

Just get a key at reduced price, it's not that hard. It will take at least a year for another version, if it ever comes. P3 took how long ? I'm not waiting that long to save a few bucks.

The SMT5 rerelease is genuinely the best one they’ve ever done. The new story route in that game is almost completely different from the original after a certain point. I didn’t really feel bad about rebuying it because I felt like I was getting a new game worth of content on top of the old content that was already there.

I know this is a hard pill to swallow, but most people didn't beat the original and definitely won't repeat another 100+ hour JRPG for what are ultimately minor changers.

I'm kinda shocked this works for Atlus at all, but I also think they were just lucky with new purchasers each time buying the enhanced edition for the first time. Especially now.

Like I said, with the exception of maybe SMTV and I'd argue Persona 3 since it lets you control your allies, none of the new content is really worth anoher 100+ hour romp if you've already played the game and aren't a nutjob like a very small niche.

SMT mainline games should not take 100 hours to complete unless you are 100%'ing everything and the only other one that maybe makes sense for is Strange Journey, you can finish every other SMT in 30-40 hours. Thats basically half the time of Metaphor and Persona games. SMT 4 as well even on its longest route takes about 35-41 hours to complete.

9 months the first time around. Haven't followed the remake since I'm not willing to get cucked into paying $70 for a 20 year old game that's had content removed to be sold to me again later.
