Most important: no teenagers, YEY
Sure, Metaphor shares DNA with Persona—same dev team, some familiar mechanics like “Bonds” and the whole inner-spirit thing (shout-out to Archetypes). But, unless you missed the part where they ditched the high school setting and summoned political intrigue instead of teenage angst, this is way more SMT meets Persona. You’ve got kingdoms on the verge of collapse, tyrants plotting like it’s a Shakespearean tragedy, and giant human monstrosities wreaking havoc—not exactly the school festival arc we’re used to in Persona.
It’s like saying Dark Souls and Elden Ring are the same just because they both make you question your life choices. Surface similarities? Sure. But calling Metaphor “Persona 6” just because you see some overlap is like calling every fantasy game Final Fantasy. But hey, if it gets you that clown badge, go for it.
THIS IS PERSONA 6.
It is a new IP.
