Rule is clear: DENUVO = NO BUY
I do not buy DENUVO. Suffered enough with it and I will not anymore.

Will buy day one if DENUVO is absent with pleasure.

I just can't stand anymore paying expensive price for good games that have horrible performance thanks to DENUVO while pirates have the flawless experience.

Edit: I think this next reason is the one that really get over me: It's impossible to make a stand alone backup of the game. DENUVO asks for 2 things before let you run the game: The service you bough the game must exist and work. And you need an internet connection. If one of these cease to exist then you'll never play your game ever again. This is the same as not actually owning the game. Conclusion is you paid for nothing at all. That said, if the game cannot be played at world's end then I'll not buy the game.

I'll buy it when and if DENUVO is removed as I did with Callisto Protocol.

Tim Thanks a écrit :
The Denuvo version of Persona 5 Strikers runs badly for me on multiple PCs including the steam deck* but meanwhile the Denuvoless version runs perfectly without doing anything.

*For the steam deck, the big issues are fixable if you like to tinker and fix the code.

That being said I think the recent Denuvo implementations of Atlus games are good enough. As long as it's not game breaking (like with P5S), i would rather have Denuvo and experience the game than otherwise. Props to you for being resilient.

If you want to own your games - you are on the wrong platform. On steam you "rent" the games with the pinky promise that you will hopefully have access to them in 10-20 years.

Unfortunately that is the bleak future of all kinds of digital art. Physical media is going extinct and we will own nothing.

I really don't buy games to not own them. The client is irrelevant. What matters is the money I paid and the game I receave. If the game came from steam or from a torrent it doen't matter anymore. I paid so it's mine to keep. Even if steam thinks otherwise. They just don't have this power.

Precisely...That being said tho, Gabe's gettin on in the years, and we've no idea what steams going to look like in his absence (god forbid)....Probably time to consider stocking up on some massive HDD's and getting your collection stored offline.

Then they're as yours as you can get. Just a case of cracking any still plagued with Denuvo/Other malwarez then. Not all are cracked ofc, but the majority of them are these days.

I thought the Denuvo cracking is dead atm. With the psychotic lady being gone and all.

Yeh unfortunately that is the case for a lot of 2023/2024 releases currently...see what the future brings!
agree. I myself prefer non-denuvo games because if one day I go to a mountain region where there is no internet. I can just launch the game offline. owned the game is better than rent the game. Denuvo = Rent.
no denuvo = piracy they said. and yeah, denuvo = no buy over here.
Also, are they stupid or what? the sale can't go up any bigger after 6 months. square enix made the right call. because I don't see any the number of feedback raise bigger than the frst 3 months. to be precise, 1 months actually. I never buy any of persona games on PC. I got P3P on switch. P5R on PS4. P3R on PS4. P5S is hack n slash so I don't play those.

I bought P4G... Then they put DENUVO day one... I saw 2 month later... regret
Is this crappy bait or did you legitimately expect people to care?

How do I answer this? Ah, right! Use your brain. You don't have to think hard to get that.
Nobody cares if you buy it or not, your thread is useless, nobody asked you if you were going to buy it, but don't worry, if you are not going to buy the game because i will.

DENUVO=BUY

So you two enjoy companies which fund violent conversion therapies in developing countries. Understood.

Isnt denuvo also a kernel level rootkit?

The Denuvo anti-cheat is. I'm not sure about the inner machinations of how the anti-tamper works. However, it's best not to trust them, as they're guilty of many other indecent practices.

For example: they used stolen art to promote their Switch solution, despite being a company which is claiming to prevent stealing.

Sorry, I can't sympathize with you. I have not had any issues running these games at all. I'm sorry if your hardware is insufficient, but please don't ruin our fun and be a cry baby about it.
For me, it's how stuff like Denuvo erodes the ownership of a game, which is what the OP might have been eluding to.

While that is true for a lot of Steam games, there are a decent number of Steam games that are completely drm-free, such as Lies of P, Valkyria Chronicles, and Half Life 2. You can see the list below:
