Slingshot help!?!

I keep on trying shift+ lmouse adn then space but it doesnt work, it instead sends me into a web sling. What am I doing wrong?

You need to hold space until you're pulled al the way back, then let go of space

I press the left mouse button, shift, and space, but nothing happens at all. I tried holding it but nothing happens.

You have to press left and right click

Are you making sure you have something on both sides? You can't slingshot off nothing.
Although it's pretty useless anyway. I just use it to fling myself higher when I need to. Pretty useless for covering distance.
