This game seems unforgivable?
I purchased game, drawn by the Arkham title, I have loved the franschise since it started. Origins was the weakest game by far in my opinion, but it was still good.

I didn't know that this was 2.5D due to lack of research on my part, but I only paid $5 for the Deluxe Edition and the origional Arkham Aslylum had 2.5D sections, like the Scarecrow Worlds, which while not my favorite parts, were awesome!

Unfortunately here the game controls are clunky. While as a PC gamer you can rekey, you can only do so with about half the keyboard, the other keys being "locked" into the default configuration. But I need those keys to make the game work properly on my gamepad, yes I could rekey the pad to get around the problem, but it seems like an awful lot of work for a medicore game. On top of that the gamepad keys which are the same (Space, Lft Cntrl) don't seem to work properly and it is only with this game, otherwise I would be doing something about my pad. On top of that I can't use the thumb buttons on my mouse. Once again, I could rekey the mouse, but why do I need to? (I have the Razer Naga 2014 Mouse and the Razer Tartarus Game Pad.)

Secondly it seems that whatever quality of writing and flow they had for the old games, they lost it here. Catwoman seems canned (I loved her in Arkham City) and Batman awkward.

Thirdly, and this is what I consider the worst, I have three screens and whenver my cursor wanders off the main screen in the background (still onscreen in the game) it knocks me out of the game when I click. So I need to disable my other screens to play this game??

Now I can accept this on older games where multiple screens were not common or even possible. I am playing an old game and I need adapt, that is part of reverse compatibility. But for a 2014 game, this is just sloppy, especially as the rest of the franchise does not have this problem. I realiz that this is a port, but really? Is WB really that greedy?

I only made it to the first stealth mission, on the roofs while chasing Catwoman. Am I being too critical? Is this awkwardness just in the start and then the game becomes awesome or do I write off the $5 as a mistake and wait for Arkham Knight to come out?

Thanks!

The thing is, this is a port from a mobile game. The developers don't seem to have much experience in porting games to PC, since all of their experiences are with mobile games. So things like fully remappable keys, multi-monitors, etc... not being supported are to be expected.

The writing of the game is fine by me (even though there are some really awkward parts here and there, like Batman not having any gadgets besides the Batarang, and somehow getting the rest of them inside Blackgate). Putting that aside, it's comparable to an animated Batman episode you used to see in the 90's.

Your criticism isn't too harsh, because the game does have its flaws. But, given enough time, it might grow on you in some way.
