So the scarlet whip, little spear, and the War Scythe look like the clear favorites in their category, and the Dragon’s Breath and launcher have their own merits, plus that silver pistol isn’t bad for ammo capacity, but I see some people liking the violet saber over the silver sword, especially for the true ending boss. Is there a reason for this? As far as I can tell, the violet saber just looks cooler, but otherwise is statistically inferior to the silver sword. Am I missing something here?

Violet Saber does much more damage to the true ending boss.
UV Sword does bonus damage to the secret final boss… MASSIVE bonus damage. Nothing else comes close. It’s basically the secret final boss’ weakness.

Dragons Breath is the best gun by far. The low ammo capacity is MORE than made up for by its insane damage output… making it the gun with the highest DPS in the game.

Dragons Breath definitely best gun IMO. The Scarlet Whip my preferred melee weapon, for range and damage.

Underwater gun, for well... everything under water. UV light saber by far best weapon against final boss.

Same, it’s just that in certain instances the UV sword does MASSIVE bonus damage that the red whip doesn’t.

Its not going to matter much unless for particular bosses or if you somehow pick up the UV lightsaber very early. You are going to be one shot-ing most enemies anyway,

Early game year… later on, not even close.

Well yes, the very end biome with spongy enemies are going to take a bit more. but depending on your gear load out and level you can be increasing your attack output by plus 70% or something. At level 60 thereabouts i was killing androids and reapers in 3 shots.... then the only enemies needing more than that were the trees and the chimera, monkey snake tail thing. At that point in game with that kind of damage output its kind of irrelevant. The only enemy that it is absolutely essential to have the lightsaber for is the final final boss.

I’m not even talking the final biome. The last few areas have spongey mofos.

UV Sword aside, I found the dagger variants to be my sleeper broken weapon due to their massively overtuned hitstop trivializing most fights and especially making the second part of the secret boss a complete joke.
Neutral air freezes you still and, if you need to gain altitude, down air pogo is very reliable with that weapon. Combine that to their almost nonexistent recovery frames and you can move to safety/dodge/pop a lux spell/launch sword whenever needed. And that's on top of their already really good DPS and super fast MP buildup.
Just find any aerial safe spot in a boss' patterns and mash it to death.

I plowed through lategame with that combined with the nade launcher for fights with multiple enemies (its splash is absolutely massive) when fireball/screen nuke spells would be overkill.

Yep, the dagger racks up a lot of MP recovery quick so you can spam lux skills more often. In fact it's a good way to kill the true boss because since it makes you stay up in the air, you can avoid some of her attacks in phase one while also spamming Lux skills.
