Key/Button to open the map?

Not sure if I'm missing something, but is there no way to directly open the map? Without having to open the menu, press down 6 times and then open it. I'm not that far into the game and I'm already annoyed by this. The control settings say "Pause/Map" for that bind so I thought you could hold or double press to open the map directly but that doesn't work.

You just need to press up 1 time and 1 second you can open the map!
