Started a New Game - Analysis
I will likely type up a guide..but the scientist in me kicked in, and I started a new game, and documented EVERYTHING.

Here's some observations:

Two shelves for each product worked perfectly fine, until day 9.

Here is the average product sales for days 1 through 9:

Numbers are range of sales, total sales (nine sell days), and average per day (rounded):

Cereal: 5-13, 80, 9 (75% of one shelf)
Bread: 6-20, 135, 15 (125% of one shelf)
Flour: 4-19, 88, 9 (113% of one shelf)
Susu: 4-19, 88, 9 (75% of one shelf)
Penne: 5-17, 90, 10 (125% of one shelf)
Oil: 1-17, 73, 8 (75% of one shelf)

Sales per day went up every single day, from day one to day nine. Starting with 61, and ramping up each day. Now up to 138 on day nine.

Day 3, new products came in, now seven selling days:

Coffee: 3-9, 48, 7 (88% of one shelf)
Tea: 7-15, 81, 12 (60% of one shelf)
Water: 5-16, 72, 8 (100% of one shelf)
Cheese: 0-12, 68, 10, (111% of one shelf)
Eggs: 6-14, 76, 11, (88% of one shelf)
Milk: 0-14, 43. 6, (75% of one shelf)

I added in percentage uses of one shelf..I want to know where I need to add space, and were I can cut back *cough*tea*cough*.

Pricing..and this is HUGE. I am adding a surcharge of 7% ABOVE retail, for all products. I change this, every time a product's retail is changed.

I have NEVER had a complaint on price. To the point that I am thinking that I should bump it all to 10%. Why? Currently I am generating about $700-900 a day in revenue. IF I were at retail, with no markup, it would cost me $50-60 a day in profits.

With 138 separate products sold per day, an extra $60 on their products is significant. If I lose a sale on a $2 water, I lose 14 cents in profit. If I lose a sale on an $8 box of cereal, I lose 56 cents. On average, losing a sale would potentially cost about 40 cents per occurrence. With an EXTRA $60 per day, I will take my chances.

Complaints about price are WELL worth it, if they're buying ten items, all of which are marked up.

I will run my little universe for several more weeks, and report back my science/numbers based conclusions. Too early at this point, other than to say that it APPEARS that the number of shoppers, and their spending appears to be linked to store level. A natural, slow progression in sales.

Edit to add..I made an error..If I lose a sale due to pricing complaints, I don't lose the 7%, I lose the ENTIRE profit..which may be several dollars. For that reason, I will remain LESS aggressive in increasing margins.

Honestly speaking as I'm level 38, It's not about the price its about the volume at that point. with the storage update I can say the best way to go around is to buy a lot when its down of course but at a high level everything gets demolished in a day where I have to constantly restock the whole day to keep up.
What my take away is leveling will bring in more customers and unlock more cashiers and restockers which in turn helps with the volume of customers.

Day ten for me was a further ramping up...50 more items sold than any other day. Apparently, just over time, the throttle goes down on sales. My store rating didn't change, neither did the size or product list.

I'm on day 86 , I'm only upping the price by 15 cents so I might be under selling them by A LOT

Guaranteed that you are. Seven percent of a $20 item is $1.40....But for a two dollar bottle of water, 15 cents is 7.5%.
