We should also be able to hire more restockers. I think there are to few after the fruits and veggies update.
I also agree that it would actually be more fun if we just got more customers instead. The current price of unlocks is only a problem, so long as it's a nothing but a grind to get them. While more customers per level would be the simplest and most cost-effective way to balance this, I feel this is an opportunity to make other aspects of the game more rewarding.
Right now, new products, are just that. They make your store more visually interesting but that's as deep as it goes. It'd be nice if new licences also brought in new customers. They could even increase sales by letting customers grab substitutes, if the exact item they were after is out of stock. I'd love to see specific licences bring in specific customers too -- e.g. the expensive product licence could attract high spending customers.
And while the growth upgrades are practical, these could also enable/attract more customers. This could extend to things like your decorations and music system too, and also incorporate the cleanliness meter -- these could accumulate in some kind of separate 'environment' bar which also awards extra customers when filled.
I use Cheat Engine, btw.
