"Finish the day" with customers in store

What happens if I click "finish the day" when there are still customers in store, either at the check out or still grabbing groceries? I usually only click it when the final customer has left, just in case I'll lose any money from those that were still in there

You lose cash/stock from those customers, you didn't wait for.

Thanks, I thought that might be the case so have been waiting until the last customer has left. I'll keep doing as such
