but yes if they listened to too many ideas that are not part of the developers vision it would turn into a different game come out as a pile of trash (ideas that work with the vision of the devs is a different story )
But this is early access game. Players are allowed to report bugs, give feedback and suggestions. Players are helping the dev to make the game better. Of course the dev doesn't have to make everything just like the players want, this is his game after all, but players are just giving their opinions and telling about bugs. And we helped him by buying this game on its early access state. Now he had money to create a team.
Why wouldn't the dev just publish a full release later if he doesn't want to listen to players? Why did he release the early access game?
I think he liked the idea of developing the game together with players (their opinions), but did he get so bad feedback from someone that he doesn't want to communicate anymore? I don't know. Some people can be very rude but I hope the dev don't take it personally. There are other possible reasons, too, why he isn't communicating. I don't want to be too curious about it, it would not be polite.
I understand the worries of the players. It would be good to know that the developers are listening to feedback and that they are trying to fix bugs. I don't know if they are active on Discord?
But these "the game is abandoned" rumours don't seem to die... ;D
I don't think the dev would stop developing this good game.
Look at Lethal Company, game has been steadily dying for awhile now. Mod creators are starting to give up on it as the solo developer has begun becoming burnt out on his successful game. He rarely releases a new update. The current update, Update 55 dropped a short while ago and before that, we had one small update a few months prior.
Communication and transparency is key.
see, as essentially a "boomer gamer" this concept of a game even getting updates is still sorta knew. when did the xbox 360/ps3 come out? 2005? at the end of the year,
and wasnt really till later that games were getting the "live service battle pass treatment" that people expect from every single game that releases.
i enjoy games that are just what they are, THPS, katamari.
games can just be games withtout being ever evolving.
The bug that has been reported to this hub many times, "customers panic in front of the shelves and don't line up at the register," has been present since April, and other bugs, especially those with the stockers, were not fixed.
That is the essence of the problem. Why didn't the development team fix this bug? It is likely because they have half abandoned it, but I think the team has not yet reached a consensus and is unable to make a decision.
if they say the plan in updates monthly and there is a delay without the dev just giving the players a heads up i would agree
as for early access i don't think is the issue, its the fact that the devs are not held accountable to finish the game ( and i don't mean call it finished when its not). for any game that is abandoned we should be able to get refunds if we want and the cost would be on the dev
I think the dev of Supermarket Simulator is burnt out, too. Then you have to distance yourself from work and stressful situations. Social situations may be tiring, too. So burn out would explain why Cannias became so silent.
Of course this is just an assumption and I don't know if he has talked about things on Discord. But in general it's not hard to believe that surprising success of your early access game may cause burn out especially to single developers who are trying to do everything alone by themselves. There is other life to handle, too. And when there are too many things to do at the same time and if you try to do your best in everything... Then you'll get tired. And it's not just being tired. There are other symptoms, too. You just can't force yourself to work anymore when the situation has become too bad.
People are different. Some people like to talk openly about these things while others like to keep things private. And that's ok.
That's why I think demanding communication and pressuring the dev to communicate is not good. Just in case. We never know what's going on in his life and he doesn't have to explain anything if he doesn't want to. We have to accept and respect his privacy.
How do you think businesses improve sales and their products? They listen to customer feedback. Ever take a survey? Wtf do you think they are for?
