Moving items on shelves
Is there a way to move an item to another shelf once it's placed in display? I'd like to be able to move, say, a single box of cereal to a different shelf with other cereal to make room for another product type.

If you still have the right size box you can hold right click to remove the items.

You can also add several boxes in 1 location. eg salt I think it is up to 4 boxes.

It is trickier than it used to be. You need the same size box to take something off the shelf. I used to keep on of each type of box but now that stockers pick up boxes from the ground they will throw away all your empty boxes. :/

So you will still need the same size box to take an item off the shelf but once you start to remove some the stockers will attempt to fill the shelf back up. So move quick to empty the shelf and delete the price tag. Can place them on another open shelf or put the box down and it will be brought to the stockroom.

If you have storage room shelves for that item they will add to the shelf. If you are out of room for the that item in storage they will fill any open spot in the stockroom. If there is not one or a spot in the shop they get stuck.

So have extra storage shelves for overflow, it might be messy for a bit in the storage but it will work out after a few days cycle.

From my understanding, right now you have to use a box, like the above commenters mentioned. I believe being able to pick up without the use of a box is on the laundry list of upcoming updates to the game. When you're on the menu page, there's a little scroll down box at the top right with some (hopefully soon-ish) features.

In this case, we will use empty boxes to move the cereal. We will collect the cereal in the empty cardboard boxes that the cereal came in and then re-display it on the new shelves.

So I did find out today that you can put empty boxes on the racks in the back and the stocker will not pick them up and throw them away! It may take up some storage space but it will allow you to move your products around whenever you need. :steamhappy:
