Over time, we can probably learn to fine-tune and optimize our shelving and be able to fit everything (mods allowing for easier restocking also help a lot with this), but it can't be denied, that the lack of storage space IS indeed quite a challenge for now. Difficult, but not impossible... but it could also be argued, that any good game is SUPPOSED to challenge the player, make us think, optimize, find solutions.
- The number of shelves spaces you can fill with 1 delivery carton
- The number of delivery cartons that you can put into one rack space
Some products like sodas & juices, cheese, hand soap and shampoo are good to put onto storage racks, as one rack space can hold 6 shelve spaces worth of products. For sodas & juices it's even better since 1 delivery carton equals to 2 fridge spaces.Other products are bad to put there, like Toilet paper, potato sacks and bleach, since one delivery carton goes into one shelves space and takes up one entire rack space, so it's a 1:1:1 ratio.
Some products are a mixed bag to store there as their delivery cartons can fit multiple times into a shelve space but only two can fit into a rack space, like dishwasher tabs. For these specifically i choose how i wan't to go about this.
Now overall this can also be adjusted with prices and how much shelve space you dedicate to a certain product.
Cereal for example fits 1:1 into a shelve space vs the delivery carton, even though 2 deliveries can fit into one rack space, making it a 1:1:2 okish ratio.
But in my case i stopped putting cereal into racks and dedicated more shelve space for that.
Or dishwasher tabs: they fit in a 2:1 ratio into shelves vs the delivery carton, but they can only be stacked twice on a rack space, making the ratio 2:1:2, better but not quite worth it in my opinion.
Sure i have to refill those manually, but then again i don't have to order a ton of items everyday, which i think is the most important thing here.
Right now i have only 6-7 racks filled out of the, what, 17-18 racks that are still empty. I'm currently at the sushi and freezer meals license but after clearing out my storage racks and dedicating more shelve space to products i feel much better about moving forward.
