closing the cash registrers

I installed two cash registers and a cashier. Is it possible to close one of the cash registers so that customers do not queue in front of it?

Yes, closing a register should definitly be an option as in real life. If you have one cashier working one register, and need to do something other than man the second register for some time (order stuff, refill etc), it should be possible to close it, and have everyone que in front of the other.

I hope they will add this feature to the game.
As a work around you can box up your cash register to make it so people wont queue for it.
Then just unpack it when its needed.

When you look at the register, pick it up, press 'C' to close it back into a box. (this is currently the only way to "turn off" the register) If you place it (or pick it up) while people are around, make sure you can place it quickly, I believe there is still a bug that makes you have to reload the save if customers place items on the belt, and you will lose all customers and sales you were about to make.

Instead I would suggest you look around and order the things you need to restock the shop. open it up, AND then start restocking. the customers will wait at your register, take your time, they aren't gonna tip you anyways. I personally haven't noticed an issue with making them wait, especially after hiring cashiers.
