My main strategy currently is to make everything crazy overpriced. People buy less, so I have to restock less (making me not go crazy when there's too much variety), but they still buy. So for less work I earn more money :D
Not all products are equal so you should keep a close eye on how much of a product you sell in one day and adjust the shelf space to that.
This also increases over time as more visitors come.
For example, when you start the game having one shelf of blue flour might be enough, but once you have played for 20 levels you will need to have 4 shelves of blue flour to last one day.
Just account for those spikes when dividing shelf space.
Well there are some times where it will just always be a bit troublesome like toilet paper bleach, potato's and chicken which take a big shelf space for not so many products.
For the times i do have excess items i usually create little alcoves to store those boxes.

I do not open up until all the shelves are re-stocked, and all the extra product is stored in a planned location. ALL items have two full shelves..four if it is milk, potatoes, or toilet paper.
Dude, you didn't notice the level of the stores in the screenshots. I'm level 26 with all the licenses up to level 30 and Heartwork is level 20 and I assume has plenty of licenses too.
The point of this thread is to share tactics to help each other do well in game. In the early game, yes, it is hard to keep up with stocking and it is discouraging, but it feels like an intentional gameplay mechanic to make the player consider a better way to work. IMHO, the most important thing is to get a cashier early game. Buying multiple licenses is also more important that you think. The new items have higher profit margins and you spread the stocking out over multiple products. I'm to the point where I have so many products that I don't need to restock during the day except maybe chicken, potatoes, and toilet paper.
The second reason for this thread is to show the devs how players are actually playing the game. If they see techniques that they like, they may choose to integrate them into the game's meta.
When you hit new day, the store is closed. This is the best time to order and restock. I think that's what he meant.
In the beginning of the day, you get to choose when to open your store. Time does not pass before you open the store. Take your time, restock everything, and then open the store when you feel comfortable.
