Using the numpad would be far better.
I don't mind doing the card too much but this would def make it better, easier and def faster with the numberpad
I dont know how it is in the US, but in germany even the smallest kiosk doesnt need to type it in manually. Especially not when they have a modern cash register like this one. They mostly only use a hand scanner and they still just need to type on pay with card and dont need to type it in manually.
Sure it would be easier if you could use the numpad, but maybe as upgrade it would be nice if you dont need to type in the price.
And i dont want to hire a cashier at the moment, i like to do it by my own.
In America, it is quite common to give the merchant your card. In Europe, apparently the merchants are thieves, and it is ILLEGAL to give the merchant your banking card.
Otherwise I like the idea of upgrading the bank terminal system to a automatic one
Agree supermarkets are automated by pressing pay by card button. But smaller businesses don't, they have to enter the amount manually (Not talking about supermarkets in general). Like every Saturday when I got the Bakery to get a Kiwi pie.
I have read the Dev's are planning to add the numpad to operating card machine in the future.
I worked for a couple of months, after I retired, at our small boutique store in the community I live in. Our point of sale required us to punch in prices. There was no scanning mechanism.
I didn't much care for it. If you made a mistake, there was no way to catch it. With no scanning, there was no inventory control, and no way to see what was sold. The owner was an idiot, and wouldn't listen to reasonable suggestions, so I stopped working there. He was out of business six months later..but not before he contacted me, wanting to sell me the business.
Most people don't hand the card to the clerk they use the scanner provided in real life. It's stupid that we have to put the amount in for the customers card to work. the scanner should be on the other side of the counter and let those dorks scan their own blasted card!
Not every store has a scanner. That's the point.
