you dont need controller, you can just run it and play with keyboard and mouse

Yeah, good with that. You have to guess what the keyboard controls. There literally millions of possible combinations. That is where you will need a fantastic amount of luck.

Are you in STEAM BIG PICTURE mode? That might be the problem. Try running it in standard mode and see if that helps the situation.

Standard controls are : W/A/S/D (Up/Down/Left/Right) and the UP/DWN/LEFT/RIGHT Arrow Keys for movement, you can also jump with space if you feel like it, and run in any direction if you hold SHIFT while moving. All other controls will be listed on screen such as to place an object, throw box, etc. Good luck!
