Ideal (%) Prices
So I finally bought another cash register and hired 2 checkout clerks. wich means i dont need to have all my prices set to 3$, 5$, 13$, etc. now i get to experiment what the sweet spot is for pricing items and having customers still buy them. I know you can set an item 1-2$ above market price and have some customers still buy it, not as much for cheaper items.
So i assume the way the game is deciding this is: when a customer is generated, they have their list of items from your store theyre going to trry to buy generated as well, and the % of market price they'll be willing to buy at ill also be semi-randomly generated within a certain % range (90%-130% for example). such that one customer will be willing to buy a chicken at 120% of curent market price or less, and another may only accept 100% or less. assuming this is how the game is programmed to work, i wanna figure out the % range so i can set all my items to about, halfway through the range? not really sure where the sweet spot would be. and even if this is how the game works, no guarantees that all types of items will have the same % ranges, and that there wont be additional formulas also being applied.
well if any other min/maxers have tried this lemme know.:er_uwu: :espresso:

For me I don't go over $0.15 over market price and I've never had a single complaint, seems once I get closer to $0.25 over then they complain.
I use percentages pretty much. Some things like cleaning products and more expensive items I go about 7% above mkt avg. Some food items I'll go around 5% above. Candy, cake, cereal, spreads, around 6% above. Yogurt... pretty much mkt avg rounded up to the nearest 5 cents. Cheese usually about 5% above.

All markups I round to the nearest 5 cents pretty much as well since I still go on my third register and I don't deal in pennies.

Still get a few complaints, but for the most part it's ok.
I am part of team whole number for expedited checkouts so I set my prices as follows.

If $XX.65 or higher I just round up to the next dollar. If not I round down to the next dollar.

Example:
$2.87 will set $3
$2.55 will set $2

Generally you will still make profit. At most you'll get 1-2 people complaining every few days, but mostly will be days no one care and buy everything.
i see a lot of players use % instead of fixed value. Something between 5% and 8% seens to be good.
The issue is early on this might be fun.. easy to do.. but the reality is the bigger your store gets the worse it gets to try to do this. I just set mine all to market value because when they say "one item found too high of price" they don't tell you which one it is.. they need a system that allows you to adjust prices easier like "make the whole store 10% above cost.. or round every price up to .99, I'd love to see a way to do this from the computer.. once you are like lvl 35 and have a ♥♥♥♥ ton of shelved and merch it's a nightmare to do this.. well maybe if you were doing it all along..

This. There should be a means to set globally to a certain percentage of market price by default. I too find 7% works great, there are less than ten who complain about high prices every day.

I had 7% for the first two weeks. ONE person complained about price. I jacked them up to 10% above retail, and I have five complaints the first day. These five lost sales cost me more than the 3% additional prices gained.

I will go to 8%, and get it figured out. Seven percent seems to be the sweet spot.
Yesterday I put every product 5% above market price. I played 2 game days and both days 5 customers complained about too expensive prices.

I call BS. I can go two weeks, without a single complaint, at 7%.

No, it really happened! :D I'm not lying. Before that I had always set prices about 0,10 or 0,20 above market price and customers never complained. But yesterday I set +5% prices and 5 customers complained.

But it's weird that you can set 7% prices and they won't complain. Hmm. Have you set +7% prices to cheap products, too?

Everything. I even went to 10%, and lost three sales. I may bump from 7 to 8%, and see what happens.

Edit. I do round down to the nearest 5 cents. Perhaps exactly 7% is the trigger? I am probably at 6.98%.
Lmao ♥♥♥♥ really? Ive been been doing a 25% markup and rounding it off to the nearest .x9. for example, a market price of 2.17 i would put at 2.79. a 25% markup and then rounded up/down depending on my mood. i get a bit of people who complain but who doesn't now a days lmfao
I set my pricing at 50% profit determined by average cost. I get on average 84 customers and about 60% complaints but I'm still selling on average 6k worth of goods per day and 3500 in profit. Before I was running at market value with no complaints and selling the exact same amount of around 6k but my profit was between 1500 and 2500. I would rather sell less and make more. This means the days go faster also because less time stocking and more time selling.
Example market price 9,20-10,19 i set price to 10.00$.Some complains.restock, price check and cashing fast.I used different system at first more sells less profit restocking took long time.
I wish we could change the price of every product by using the computer. For example, click "set the price 7% above the market price" and then every product would be 7% above market price. That way it would be so much easier to try playing with different prices.

I'm still selling 5% above market price but I'd like to set a little higher prices now. But there are sooo many products that I don't want to start changing their prices again. :´D
Haha, maybe I'll do it someday when I'm really bored.
