HTC Vive controls poor/issues?
Picked this up after waiting a bit and seemed like the reviews were better and it had a sale but I'm having a ton of trouble playing this game.

1. Major Annoyance is the tap to turn/move (using teleport as I haven't played VR in a while and would prefer not to go straight to motion sickness) and having a giant pad that is easily clicked also be the toggle for crouch is frustrating. Specially when games like HLA use the click to teleport/turn which I am used to. See no way to easily change this.

2. Sometimes the tap to turn/move just doesn't even work and then all of a sudden I will just start spinning in circles non stop. It's not delayed because it doesn't stop if I don't intervene.

3. Speaking of the tap to move, sometimes I can move a decent distance, sometimes I can only move like 2 feet in front of me and sometimes it feels like the game just decides this at random. No amount of angle/movement of my arm/hand seems to affect this. Made some of the early parts infuriating having to take 20 baby jumps to clear a room. If it were done via button click with actual feedback instead of a tap that doesn't work right half the time maybe it wouldn't be so annoying. All I end up doing is crouching and trying to move and getting mad lol.

That said, I didn't get very far and wondered if it's just me or others are having the same issue? Basically wondering if I should give up and refund while I still can. I did load up HLA and play that for a few to confirm my setup isn't the issue and that all works like normal.

Hi, can you elaborate on tap-to-move? you mean that there is a button that change the joystick function from turn to move? I'm currently able to just move left/right and cannot turn. and button I should click?

Not sure what you have, but I have an HTC Vive and there are no joysticks.

So how do you move? I have Samsung HMD+, on the controller I have both touchpad and joystick. I can move but not turn. is there any key or function that toggle between move and turn?

With the vive, using teleport, it was by pointing and taping with the touch pad. I don't own the game anymore though I refunded it so I don't think I'll be much help for you. Never got any help for my own issues and the game was a buggy annoying mess so I refunded. Figure I'll pick it up when it gets dirt cheap if they don't fix it.

yeah, it's frustrating. with Mixed Virtual Reality (PCVR) I have both joystick and touchpad on my controllers. when playing the game, I can move forward/backward and left/right (not turn). if I change the game settings and swap rotation/movement then I can turn but cannot move forward/backward.... I don't know how they build that game to work like that

I played using the Vive wands with a Vive Pro 2 and the controls were fine using smooth locomotion, never had an issue. I can't comment on using teleport as it never even occurred to me to try that given the type of game it is.

However, if teleportation is supported then it's reasonable to expect it to work correctly and be reliable as a movement system. As I haven't seen any mention of this previously is it possible it's just an issue with your system? Did smooth locomotion work as expected for you?

If I get a chance later today I'll fire it up and try using teleportation to see if I'm experiencing the same issue.

Haven’t played VR in a while and had zero interest in going through the nausea and such just to get acclimated to smooth locomotion again just for this game. It’s only a very very tiny minority of people who have immediate VR legs.

When other games from this developer + games like half life alyx all work perfectly fine using teleport, why would I even remotely think it’s my system?

Well I swapped to teleportation movement and started a new game and it's working perfectly for me. I can position the feet markers anywhere from right in front of me to up to 2 meters in front of me, and movement is smooth and precise every time. Played for 10 minutes with no issues at all. Simply touch the top of the trackpad, control the distance using the vertical angle of the wand and let go to move.

Doesn't appear to be an issue with the games use of the wand controllers per se, as far as I can ascertain.

Worth mentioning, although teleport clearly works within the game and teleportation has it's place in some games, I would not recommend playing a Metro game using teleport, I seriously doubt you are going to have a good experience when it comes to some of the combat. Just my 2 cents

I would get better controllers than the vive wands.
