Beardo Benjo mentions this in his review, his fix was to change the AA setting. https://youtu.be/oSHJhbT04Rc?t=670

Yes, I can confirm that it's quite annoying. So it's a problem with the FXAA? Too bad, because for me it's the best anti-aliasing option. Is a fix for this planned in a future update?

Yeah had same issue with FXAA, the big monsters emit blinding ligthts

FXAA is much better (sharper) than FAA ... This issue could be fix at the first

i was hoping it wasn't normal ... I have not gone back to play it again yet ... I kinda regret getting the deluxe and then not being able to enjoy it early

Turn shadows down to medium or enable TAA.

After last fix update all flashing disappeared in TXAA ... ( TAA looks so blurry , good they fix that so fast)
The update helped me, but I don't know how it is for others ;)
I have all settings at max and I don't see these flashes anymore

I still get the flashing with FXAA with the update

Yes, can confirm I'm also still getting bright white flashing on the NPCs sometimes, not always, seriously annoying for sure

Seriously, it's February 2025, and I'm still dealing with this annoying NPC bug! Having to toggle shadow settings (specifically, setting them to low and then back to whatever is preferred) every single time I load the game or a checkpoint is ridiculous. I reached out to Vertigo support last week, and all I got was a message saying they're swamped with requests. This needs to be fixed!

This happened to me a lot in their older games I wish I refunded it ... Only got an hr into the game but I wasted to much time troubleshooting it

Got the same issues on the guys with the helmets and the cultist guys. I just got to the cultist section and I literally can't see to shoot or loot them because I'm being constantly flashbanged by their entire model as they move around. The helmet guys at least only had their heads light up and much less frequently.

I cannot seem to fix it. I have been playing with AA turned off entirely (destroys fps, better off with cranking resolution scaling anyways) and changing every setting from low or very high but it is always there. It's less extreme if shadows are turned to low but it's still blinding and still ruins the experience. Insane that this issue made it through QA nvm still there months after release.

Edit: looks like I was able to fix it by toggling AA on and off. I guess the settings panel can misreport what the game is actually doing
