Translation: Oh no someone is making something that isn't aimed at me, I better go on the steam discussions and complain because the world revolves around me and only me! no one else can have fun but me!
That is exactly what VR-only fans and apologists sound like.
OP was not talking about making this game non-VR instead of VR-only but about making it playable without VR too (in addition to VR mode).
People complaing here about VR-only are not trying to take VR experience from those who like it - it is VR fans who apparently draw some weird pleasure from the game not being available to others without VR. Strange crowd, VR players - at least those vocal in discussion forums.
You're the one who can't read actually, no one here is talking about the next mainline Metro game...
Nintendo made a racing game instead of another platformer? Grrr, time to boycot Nintendo
If you were really fine with it being VR exclusive you wouldn't be posting these whiny threads.
The real question is, why should VR devs and VR players make compromise like a VR Port (where VR functions are basically not existing in the game like reloading, opening doors, interacting with stuff, stuff you do in VR). It's like ripping all those nice little features out of it, which makes it a VR game in the first place. Just to please you?
The game clearly isn't meant for Flat. Why we should make a compromise, when the game is made for VR players. Why don't you make a compromise and buy a VR headset instead?
It's like your parents giving your sister a pink bike and you getting upset because it's not black and you can't ride it. Although it's obviously not intended for you. If you want a black bike your size ask your parents or buy one yourself. How about that?
VR Games are build around VR mechanics. I played Alyx with non-vr mod and it was mediocre at best. VR is what makes it special and unique.
I bet you would be one of the first to give Metro Awakening a bad Steam review cuz of mediocre non-vr gameplay.
