I've seen the "disable Steam input" fix do nothing for some (me included), so I'll share my own fix—I fixed my problem by disabling the EA App in-game overlay.

The fix is simple:

    
1. Open EA App without starting the game
       
2. Press the top left corner icon on the app (three lines)
       
3. Select the "Application" tab
       
4. Scroll down and you'll see "In-Game Overlay" toggle
       
5. Disable it

Here's a visual aid if you need it, but just make sure to start the app without starting the game as you can't disable this setting while the game is running:

PlayStation 4 Controller bros

You guys are a bit more fricked than us. You still do all of the "disable EA App's in-game overlay" jazz described above, BUT, you must use a cable to connect your controller to your PC. No wireless connections. No DS4Windows app. Just good old cable and Steam Input until EA patches this. Also, for those unaware but still using DS4Windows, EA's anti-cheat is flagging the app, and will boot you out of the game. If you have no issues, then keep playing as is, but if you do run into such issues with your controller, try the fixes outlined above.

Can I play now?

Hopefully, all is well, and the game will let you play it with your fantastic controller now.

Do note that disabling the EA App's in-game overlay will disable Steam's in-game overlay, even if you leave it turned on. Why? Who knows. So, for the time being, no funky screenshots or browsing naughty websites while playing PvP from the comfort of your in-game overlay browser. Hopefully, we see a fix to this soon. Dunno why we see these types of bugs so often, where in-game overlays from two different applications spank each other.

Quick Note: This will disable Steam In-Game overlay too, so no screenshots and such features. At least you can play the game until EA fixes this problem

You could try, but maybe the gamepad template you have is wrongly configured? Did you see if the buttons on steam input are correct? Try to edit them and see
