Game changing settings by itself

To give a bit of context I play on legendary but on classic setting and its the setting I have set on my profile and its on my normal games but I found out the game secretly changes the settings (at least for me) when starting a new tournament or career. I started a new game when I suddenly had a losing streak against teams that are statistically worse than the team I picked, I didn't notice it at first when playing against teams that are the same or better than me statistically but I was baffled at how good the "bad" teams are, it was like playing against prime Barcelona. When I went to the game settings I discovered that the game had automatically changed the setting to simulation mode and purposely throttled my players sliders and while they had also changed the ai sliders they were still significantly better than mine. Absolutely ridiculous that it's something i have to now constantly watch out for and even though it is single player I feel absolutely cheated since so many matches that i could have won were lost on the pure fact that the settings changed without me doing touching anything or knowing about it.
